CLOTH COVERED JOURNALS
I have begun covering everything with my favorite fabrics, not only boxes to store things, but all my designs and patterns are now on shelves in attractive cloth covered binders and notebooks and boxes. Historically, books were often covered in fabrics to preserve their preciousness and many can be seen today on the antiques market. Vintage style prints are used to cover a 7-1/2”x 10” lined composition book. Covers are uniquely made to be removable and a spare notebook is included for the future. Journals may be ordered plain or with simple vintage looking embroidered titles added. There is a pattern to make your own covers for these journals and three ring binder versions. I made one as a gift for my mother with a picture of my sister when she was small, now dead from cancer, with the words “Remember Me” embroidered with the picture.
Color Choices: Vintage browns or with blues
All finished journals come with an
extra refill and have choices of Plain, with Embroidered Titles, or with cloth sepia photos as listed.
Priced from $32 to $45.

STACK OF THREE COVERED BOXES
As I have been trying to make my in-the-house workshop more of a room instead of a mess, attractive storage has been a challenge. Since I love fabrics and find displaying them in plain sight a pleasure, I began covering everything from these stacks of boxes to all of the many notebooks and binders of designs and patterns. The results are quite pleasing. And so, here are some of these things for you. Store sewing supplies or art supplies in them or just look at them. These are not only carefully covered on the outside, but lined as well. Sizes are 8”,9” and 10”. Fabrics are choice vintage style prints in soft mustard tones.

A TREASURED SEWING BOX
A good gift item or just one of those things to make you feel better, a 7” covered bandbox like those above filled with my favorite sewing things. Nestled in the box are a pair of can’t-live-without 4” Ginghers with the bigger finger loops, a package of my selection of the best needles used in dollmaking and general sewing, some great pins, a tin of beeswax to condition threads, a measurer, leather thimble and a spool of the my best cotton quilting thread on a wooden spool that does not tangle and is very strong. To complement the box fabric is a tomato style pincushion filled with real wool to preserve needles.

VINTAGE STYLE SEWING BOX SET
With so much emphasis on sewing in dollmaking, it is no wonder dollmakers are also attracted to old fashioned sewing accessories made from scraps and materials at hand to protect and hold safe these precious items. I have gathered together a pincushion top sewing box with attached strawberry emery, two needle cases, a flat style tomato pincushion, and a scissors case. Available in pattern only version, limited edition kit and finished as a special gift for yourself or for someone else. Kit has all materials including the papier-mache foundation box, vintage style mixed prints, wool roviing to stuff both pincushions, buttons, and other notions. Finished sets are made up in either reproduction fabrics or vintage fabrics as shown above and include fancy snipping scissors in the 7-piece sets.

VINTAGE STYLE PINCUSHIONS - I have always been intrigued by the wonderful and often whimsical pincushions that were created by women long ago. I have taken my own "folk art" liberties in the designs, feeling that it is well within the nature of these pieces. Historically strawberries and birds figure prominently as well as pincushions on pedestal bases - usually these were created from broken and saved glass oil lamp bases in the spirit of making use of everything. I have instead chosen to make my own bases of turned wood treated to look in character. My bird pincushion has the added feature of a spindle for spools of thread. Stuffed with the best fine wool for preserving needles and pins. The pear and the crazy quilted ones are new to the series.

Kits to make these pincushions contain all the velvets (or other fabrics needed) and wood parts, real wool stuffing and notions to make them. All you will need is finish for the wood - this is explained in detail in the kit.

DOLL CHAIRS WITH VINTAGE FINISHES
Since a lot of my dolls are now in a larger size (for almost 20 years I worked on dolls 8" tall or less), I found that I wanted a size antique chair that is not only hard to find, but very expensive, due to their rarity. So I set about reproducing two in my own small collection. The chair on the left is painted a charming red that has been realistically distressed to look old and the chair on the right, which has a woven split seat, is aged wood. Both are 14" tall and are for dolls in the 14" to 20" range. Click on the illustrations for photos.

WONDERFULLY TURNED LADDERBACK ARM CHAIR ~ THE MUSTARD CHAIR
This chair is best for dolls in the 10" - 12" range. It is a more refined look than any of my other chairs and is painted a pleasing mustard color with real ash splint seats. Chair is about 11" tall. $110 Add to Cart

BASIC LADDERBACK BENCH AND CHAIR
I made these a long time back for displaying dolls but they are still good basic display pieces for 9" - 12" dolls and they are available in kit form too. Easy to assemble and paint (chair old red and bench green) with all materials and wood parts provided. Seat weaving is traditional rush-style and instructions are included. These look like the same chairs as appear in the Early American Series, but they are larger. Bench will hold two dolls.

WOODEN BENCH - NOT SHOWN (YET)
This painted wooden bench (syled like the EA settle bench) is just right for displaying a pair of dolls (intentionally matched or not) in the 12-14" size range. It is painted a pleasant sage green to go with whomever graces its wide seat and would look especially good with a doll sized quilt draped over its high back. About 11" wide x 10" tall and 4" deep. $48 Add to Cart
